The Krieger Family

I got commissioned by ~Jazoijua to create the designs of an entire family of his original Tarlerion species, and their Trillen house servants. I must say this has been one of the most enjoyable conceptual projects I've done in a while. I even got opportunity to help ~Jazoijua develop the following bios for his characters. Mind you, most of the credit for their back-stories goes to him.

I've grown so attached to this mobster family that I've made them official residents of Osmos, in my comic Becoming the Enemy. So look for them in future pages!

The Krieger Family (From left to right)

Kaa'Krieger (Big, badass-looking papa Tarlerion)

Chief enforcer of the Cabal (the Tarlerion Mafia) on Osmos and the Overseer of Waste Disposal Management on the colony's east side. When he's not managing the facility, killing snitches, or roughing up guys unable to pay their protection fees, Kaa'Krieger is usually at home doting on his lovable wife, Elisheva, and two daughters, Ava and Sophia.

Kaa is often viewed as cold and cruel; but in the presence of his family he has a soft spot. He even puts aside his xenophobic tendencies just enough to (reluctantly) allow his children to extend their friendship base to members outside their own species, which is pretty tolerant for a Tarlerion.

Ava (Baby-faced Tarlerion holding the young Trillen and my personal favorite :3 )

The stoic younger daughter of Elisheva and Kaa'Krieger who shares many of her father's personality traits, interests, and beliefs.

Showing surprising strength as a hatchling, Ava was eventually enrolled in a Tarlerion-exclusive school on Osmos, where she currently undergoes a strict education and military training regimen, which is normal for all Tarlerion children following the Warrior's path. Because of her skill and dedication, Ava has earned respect among her elders and peers.

Though Ava's innate Tarlerion sense of superiority often shows, she doesn't entirely agree with her father's disdain of the "lesser" species, and, unlike her many members of her race, tries not to segregate herself too much from Osmos' non-Tarlerion denizens.

Elisheva'Krieger (rosy-cheeked mama Turtle!)

Elisheva is a part time member of the Osmos Repair Technicians group and the full time mother of Ava and Sophia. She is also the life mate of Kaa'Krieger, their marriage a result of an arrangement made between their parents back on Taoola. Despite their many differences, they are surprisingly compatible and love each other dearly.

Elisheva is the employer and former owner of the Trillen house servant Punita, who was a wedding present given to Elisheva by her husband. Unlike Kaa, Elisheva has always treated Punita as a true member of the family.

Sophia (Cutie in the Vortian clothing; I worked closely with ~Jazoijua on her design)

The older, much more relaxed daughter of the Kriegers. Sophia is tender-hearted and laid-back - traits uncommon in members of her race. Unlike her little sister Ava, Sophia was born on the Tarlerion home-world, Taoola, where there is almost no extraterrestrial diversity. When her family relocated to the melting pot, Osmos, it was a dream come true for young Sophia, who had always been fascinated with the idea of living with other races and embracing their customs.

While her parents worked full time on Taoola, Sophia was raised by the Kriegers' Trillen house servant, Punita. This could explain why Sophia lacks the xenophobic nature common in most Tarlerions. Because Sophia is so accepting and fraternizes with alien children on Osmos, she is ostracized by children of her own race.

Sophia loves clothes and make-up, and is currently obsessed with Vortian fashion, much to her father, Kaa's, disapproval.

Punita (poodle-alien with the cookie tray)

Hailing from a remote village on Trillia, Punita was captured by Tarlerion slavers when she was only a teenager. She was destined to be sold to a brothel on Taoola, until Kaa'Krieger "saved" her from that fate when he decided to purchase her as a wedding present for his wife. She has been with the Krieger family since, working under them as their personal house servant, and helping the couple bring up their unruly daughters.

Upon arriving with the Kriegers on the floater colony Osmos, Punita was automatically recognized as a free citizen, as Osmos' laws forbid slavery. Still, Punita considers herself a part of this strange family, and remains with them at her own will.

While living on Osmos, Punita met a male Trillen mechanic named Noa and together they had a son named Aakil, who is also living with the Kriegers. Aakil is the pet playmate of Ava and Sophia.
